The relationships between people and places are constantly renegotiated as we act on the world and the world, in turn, acts on us. Live-Work is an exploration of built environments in transition and how we move through them. It takes its name from the language of mixed-use development, asking us to consider the connection between labor, recreation, daily life and cultural perceptions of place. Three artists—matthew anthony batty, Dakota Parkinson and Andrés Ramirez—speak to the transformative processes involved in placemaking through media such as installation, ceramic sculpture and photography.

matthew anthony batty is a transdisciplinary artist and educator who earned their MFA in Studio Art from Indiana University. Dakota Parkinson is a ceramic artist and educator who is currently an artist in residence at the Morean Center for Clay. Andrés Ramirez is a photographer and educator who earned his MFA in Photography from the University of South Florida.
