cort hartle is an artist and educator from Florida currently based in Philadelphia.  Working across painting, sculpture, and book arts, they explore how relationships to place are influenced by memory and storytelling.

In addition to their studio practice, they believe in the potential of artmaking as tool for collective liberation and publish Substrate, a quarterly zine that asks artists and writers to consider what a better world might look like.

cort’s work has been exhibited by spaces such as the Tampa Museum of Art (FL), Field Projects (NYC), Big Medium (TX), the Johnson Fine Arts Center at Northern State University (SD), and the Munich Zine Library (Germany). They are a self and community-taught artist, and earned a BA in Anthropology from the University of South Florida in 2018.
